I’m an author, journalist, editor, screenwriter and illustrator based in Boulder, Colo. My awards include a 2015 Lowell Thomas Travel Journalism Award. For the past several years, I’ve been the Digital Content Producer and feature writer for Global Traveler Magazine. I also write for bespoke in-room publications for luxury hotel brands including Montage Magazine, Loews and Sea Island Life.
Traveling is part of my job description, and I’ve been the travel editor at national publications including Healing Lifestyles & Spas Magazine, American Cowboy Magazine and Fit Yoga Magazine. Culture, lifestyle, fashion, mindful living, food and wine are part of my regular beat; and my body of work includes film, theater, literary journals, illustrations, fiction and marketing commissions. My work has appeared in in a variety of domestic and international media outlets including National Geographic Traveler, Islands, Spa Magazine, Experience Life Magazine, Natural Home, Yoga Journal and Women’s Adventure Travel Magazine. I’ve also been a repeat guest on Wine Country Network’s national radio program.
My background includes training horses professionally in the disciplines of dressage and three-day eventing while serving as an editor and writer at multiple equestrian-themed publications including Spur, Equus, Dressage & Combined Training, HorsePlay, Horse & Horseman, EquiSearch.com, Discover Horses, Tempo and American Cowboy.
I’ve been a member of the Society of American Travel Writers since 2002 and was part of the original team of Travel Correspondents at Jetsetter.com, where I drew from my own extensive travels through Europe, Scandinavia, Iceland, Israel, North America and Southeast Asia to design bespoke global journeys and itineraries for travel clients. I was also a member of the team at Washington, D.C.-based Association for Safe International Road Travel, where I prepared travel reports detailing public transportation, road and port conditions for corporate and leisure travelers heading to countries including Malta, Lebanon, Morocco, Italy, Russia and Portugal.
I hold BA degrees in both English Literature and Theater, and have done graduate studies in film with an emphasis on screenwriting. I’m a contributing author to the academic book Spreading the Word: Editors on Poetry (The Bench Press, 2001), and served as Poetry Editor for the nationally acclaimed literary journal Many Mountains Moving for over a decade. My poetry has been widely published in numerous literary journals and anthologies including Kalliope: A Journal of Women’s Literature & Art, The Connecticut Review, and I-70 Review. In 1996, I was the recipient of the Frances Buck Sherman Award given for Outstanding Woman Poet by the American Pen Women.
